Spirituality and Spiritual-Definition

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Spirituality, often misunderstood as a concept, is easily defined as – working to be a true and strict God related spiritual being or development of spiritual being. The highest spiritual achievement ever is one who has developed his/her true divine being to the point that his/her spirit is equal to the holy spirit of God.

Spirituality is the God related science of developing or freeing the God made innermost being – the core of all of us “made in the image of God.”

True God related spirituality is achieved by means of scientifically applying spiritual teachings and spiritual techniques that allow ego to vanish in the fire of divine love and ego oriented spirit better called intellect to be replaced by the Holy Spirit. Such true spiritual teachings can only be affected by a true connection to our innermost self. Since all humankind is God made; every human has at one time or another, the urge to develop their suppressed spirituality again. Spirituality is our true nature and spiritual development is the most direct way to solutions of love and peace in all creation. We know God is only love, because love creates, all else destroys. If Love creates and God so loved us he created the heaven and earth, therefore we know God only loves. Love can not co-exist with any other premise simultaneously, therefore God is only love.

The big bug-a-boo with being in human form vs in spiritual form (as God is) is that we have this construct called ‘ego’ to grabble with…the ego is essential to navigate the vicissitudes in life. Yet, the ego is what gets us into trouble. So we came from spiritual form and formed an ego to grabble with the human requirements in this place called ‘earth.’

All life on earth serves but the one and only purpose of developing our spirituality again to the point of being free of spiritual ignorance, free of selfish or destructive behavioral patterns, free to return to our eternal home in God. True spirituality always leads to freedom in God.

Anything else but God related development never should be called spiritual or spirituality. Many human developments lead in totally different directions – away from God! Worshiping idols for example, and depicting God as a punishing God, who is standing with a check sheet watching our every transgression and sending us to hell if the list is too long or egregious.

The intent for religion or churches is to support, promote or teach true spirituality among all. This has failed in many religions. The development of true God related spirituality is under direct supervision of God and free from any religion or church. While some churches may have spiritual groups which have true spiritual teachings – most have long ago started ego oriented abuse of teachings-such as God punishes sinners. Development of true spirituality is free of any church or religion – God has no religion – God is Holy Spirit!

The ultimate healing of spirit is done when becoming one with God as a result of proper spiritual development. That means true spirituality is achieved after oneness with God. This level of spiritual connection with God is generally attributed to Gurus or an Avatar. However, I believe that one can achieve this level of oneness with God even though one does not achieve the distinction of either Guru or Avatar. One achieves the distinction of Guru or Avatar because one chooses to be a teacher of spirituality…if one does not chose to be a teacher of spirituality does not mean they have not achieved the level of Guru or Avatar.

Two Types Of Spirituality-Faith And Knowledge

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

The term spirituality is a confusing term. Usually, when one mentions spirituality, the first thought in many people’s minds is that of religion. While religion is an aspect of spirituality, spirituality is not an aspect of religion. Spirituality covers other areas of belief as well. Put simply, spirituality is the all-encompassing arena of belief in something greater. This can be a god, oneself as the greater being, or simply, the life-force or essence that surrounds us all. But, society and religion lead their followers in many different directions replacing the core meanings with moralistic and idealistic terms in hopes of garnering attention by answering those big questions pertaining to life, death, the after-life, and a god.

Faith vs. Knowledge

While many religious zealots view the idea of knowledge-based spirituality as agnostic, indeed, it is not. As a matter of fact, even agnosts believe in something, which provides them an alternative stance to organized religion and gods. You have to believe in something to take a stance!

Faith-based spirituality is the belief and trust that things will be as they will be in the future. It is the acceptance of the great mysteries of life and death for which religion and society teaches that there are no definitive answers. Such an approach to spirituality creates a fear-based environment based on gods who are vindictive and uncaring. Believers place their lives into the hands of an unseen being in the hope that all will work out for the best.

Knowledge-based spirituality is the understanding and kinship of all and the desire to achieve and progress through life toward one’s own Vision and goals. The great mysteries become topics of personal research and, with an open mind, answers can be acquired from the environment and the Universe. This type of spirituality invites one to set aside fears and examine the information and entities of the surrounding environment. One has the chance to take life into one’s own hands and guide it along a path to one’s own desires.

Hatred and Faith

One of the problems of today is that, in our world, wars, hatred, and bias begin in the moral grounds established by religion and society. Religion creates a solid separation between different factions of humanity. These factions take the core ideals of society and mutate them to suit the needs of their particular beliefs. In the end, when societal boundaries are breached, and control languishes over the ranks, uprisings and bitter conflicts begin to restore order. The stronger of the factions wins and forces their beliefs on the weaker.

In faith-based factions, fear is instilled and faith that a great hereafter exists. People fight to maintain their beliefs because they’ve finally forced their conscious minds to accept the unanswered questions based on invisible and unfounded guesses by their noblemen. The battles are fought to ensure that their foundations and comfort zones are not affected by the infidels of the intruding factions.

However, with knowledge-based factions, fear is minimized and the great hereafter is right here and now and continues on forever. Knowledge provides the mind with a greater degree of processing information arriving at our many senses in many contexts. It allows us to look beyond the basics and outside of the accepted comfort zones to comprehend the ideas and ideals of other entities, both physical and spiritual.
Opening Your Mind
As part of our being, we all have the need to believe in something greater than ourselves. There is a part of us that has to belong. Many people fall deeply into organized religion because it provides the camaraderie and a focal point for their community as well as a basis for the moral code of the community. These, in addition to the faith-based answers to the big questions, provide a comfort zone and a foundation for many. However, by opening one’s mind and examining the many facets behind these big questions, one can develop and acquire the true answers within one’s own context.

What is the key? Context-free rationalization. Of course, context-free is a little strong as we must all have a context, or a point of reference, that we can use to compare information and apply our rules and belief systems. However, open experience and vast knowledge can provide us with multiple contexts that we can use to devise a wider view of a particular piece of information. This wider view is what is called an open mind. The open mind has no safety zone as it is always risking it’s comfort zones in search of new information and new ways of examining situations and other beings.

What’s next?

Acquiring this knowledge and ability to move across many contexts is not a simple task as it requires the ability to acquire, accept, and process information outside of our current context. It is a chicken or the egg situation; however, it is a decision that we make as humans to initiate such a move.

By opening our minds and perceptions, we allow our conscious minds the ability to communicate more freely with our subconscious minds. In doing so, the vast amounts of information available in the collective unconscious, The Grid, The Universal Library is available to us, simply by looking. Consider the idea of opening the mind as a primer for what follows once you are able to use your mind to its fullest capabilities and acquire immeasurable knowledge from all entities across the Universe and throughout time.

This is the true meaning of spirituality. The knowledge and desire to exist with and within the Universal essence. To accept and acquire knowledge that is freely available to you through time and space. Finally, the knowledge to use this information in a way that is beneficial to you, as protecting and projecting yourself, you are providing a pathway for others and the betterment of your communities.

The new times that are arriving on the Earth will require a new kind of human being to navigate through the stormy waters of present day challenges and to create new solutions based on the spiritual principles of harmony, balance, and respect for life. At this time on the Earth, many souls are awakening spiritually, and coming to more deeply understand and experience their own unique and divine spiritual origins.

When a soul, embodied in human form, begins to awaken and realize their inner connection with spirit, a new path is forged within the body, mind, emotions and consciousness. The awakening human being begins to experience a greater depth of communion with spirit, and many new questions arise. One very important question the soul asks is, “why am I here?”, and “for what purpose did God create me?”

For some on the spiritual path, an inner understanding of divine soul purpose emerges relatively early in the spiritual journey, guiding and supporting them in the directions needed for optimal growth and manifestation of their life’s work.

For others, knowledge of divine soul purpose eludes the human embodied self for quite a long time, necessitating a period of “walking in the desert” with little outward or even inward support that can be perceived. This period of seeking is purposeful on the soul’s part, but may cause deep suffering to the embodied human self that feels empty, meaningless, and worried that they may be going in the wrong direction.

The manifestation of your divine soul purpose is as unique and precious as you are. The best way to discover that which is the guiding essence of your life purpose is to look within at what desires, dreams, aspirations, hopes and longings you carry most closely in your heart.

God created you so carefully, and uniquely for the sacred purpose you embody. Think of the beauty of a newborn baby, the precious nature of their tiny fingers and toes, and the sweet wisdom in their eyes. We can see the divine blueprint of the soul clearly in the radiance of their simple and innocent being. In this same way, you are created uniquely for your spiritual purpose, with every finger and toe, every hair on your head known and accounted for by God’s infinite wisdom and grace.

Small children naturally begin to embody their soul purpose, even at a very young age. They are attracted to certain people and situations, and they relate to their environment in their own unique fashion. They may love animals, or spend their time drawing and painting, or they will play with cars and trucks, heal the neighborhood cats, or lead groups of children on the playground. They may enjoy singing and dancing, or they may read voraciously, or tinker with their computer. All the natural tendencies within, if allowed to flourish and expand, will lead a child to manifesting their divine soul purpose.

And what of we adults, who may have grown up in less than optimal circumstances where our natural tendencies were not supported? Perhaps we have forgotten what we most loved to do as a child, or perhaps even thinking about this brings up the pain of what we endured as children. How can we discover our divine soul purpose?

It may comfort you to know that you have not lost anything, even if you no longer feel in touch with your inner desires. The deep inner longing of your heart is never extinguished, even in the most difficult of circumstances. This is a quality of the soul that is eternal, that will lead you to manifesting your soul’s purpose.

If you are feeling uninspired, disconnected from your divine soul purpose, it is possible to re-connect, by praying for this and creating a sacred intention to re-connect with your inner being. The prayer and intention activates a path of healing that will lead you towards that which you desire. If you have been disconnected for a very long time, you may find yourself experiencing deep emotions of grief or pain, as the re-connection to yourself is restored. If you can breathe and be with these emotions, without repressing them, but simply holding them in god’s light, this will create a healing and a freeing up on inner space.

The discovery of your divine soul purpose lies within your heart’s desire. What do you most deeply long for? If you could do anything in the world what would that be? The path to manifesting your unique gifts in the world begins here, and then expands outward, as you begin to take actions based on your heart’s calling. Your true life’s work is this, to listen, follow, share your gifts, and manifest all that you are in the world of physical form. For this reason you came to the Earth at this time, to share all that you are with all of life.

Tithing: The Active Ingredient in Living a Prosperous Life

Friday, September 24th, 2010

True prosperity has a spiritual basis. “God is the Source of your supply.” So states Catherine Ponder in her wonderful book The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity. Just as we engage God through prayer for that which we claim to be true, and we connect with God spiritually through the practice of meditation, so too do we give the GIFT of Tithing to consistently keep in touch with the Infinite Source of our supply, God.

“Systematic giving opens the way to systematic receiving,” according to Dr. Ponder. Giving to God 10% of that which we have received to persons or places where you are receiving your spiritual nourishment allows you to enjoy true prosperity with wondrous results.

The practice of the ancient law of prosperity is as old as we are as a species. From primitive man who offered sacrifices to his gods to evolving civilizations of Egyptians, Babylonians and Arabians, Greeks, Romans and Chinese, tithing (the word “tithe” means “tenth”) was a way of life. “The ancients intuitively knew that giving, sharing and putting God first financially was the first step to permanent, enduring prosperity,” writes author Ponder. They felt that ten was the magic number of increase.

Some of the most prominent millionaires of the twentieth century attributed their extraordinary success to the practice of tithing. Catherine Ponder reports, “In 1855, as a young man, John D. Rockefeller began tithing. His total income for that year was $95.00 from which he tithed $9.50 to his church.” However, she goes on to say, “between 1855 and 1934, he gave away $531 million dollars. His standard reply to critics of his generosity was ‘God gave me my money.’”

So many of the plans for becoming wealthy and rich focus on “getting” and forget about “giving.” These schemes are not based on a spiritual foundation. When God is in the equation, wealth (meaning well-being and wholeness) is assured.

So what are we really doing when we are giving the GIFT of Tithing? We are saying, “Thank you, God” for the generous bounty that we have received. I recently read the most revealing paragraph in Joel Goldsmith’s book, Consciousness Transformed. In it he states: “A mistake has been made on the subject of tithing. Since it was discovered that those who tithe never know lack or limitation, it was believed that if you would teach this to people, they would always be prosperous,” writes the founder of the Infinite Way. “This is not true,” he continues. “Tithing is something that can only take place when individuals receive inwardly the realization of what great gifts of God they have received, and in gratitude decide to share some part of it,” Joel says. “This sharing is just with the idea of thankfulness for the realization of God’s grace, and it is for this reason that those who spontaneously come to tithe are always generously and abundantly provided for,” Mr. Goldsmith concludes. Tithing is the active ingredient of Gratitude that prospers not only the tither but the recipient of the tithe as well.

Tithing is the act of giving gratitude for the 100% we received by leaving 10% with our Source-that is, the person(s) or place(s) where we realize the Presence of God in our lives. Traditionally tithing has been associated with giving to the place of worship to which we belong. Often, “theologians have tended to stress what tithing would do for the church, instead of what it could do for the tither,” says Dr. Catherine Ponder. Yet, upon closer examination of Tithing as a spiritual practice (not a mechanical one of obligation), we can only conclude that it is the individual who will be prospered and blessed through tithing. Naturally, the recipient will be too, since it’s all God.

There are countless stories about the financial, prosperous success that comes from giving the GIFT of Tithing. “Since I have been tithing, I have more money to spend, not less,” reports one student of this class. “I put in my tithe last week and suddenly the check that I have been expecting for months came in the mail.” “Since the start of this class and my stepping into giving the GIFT of Tithing, my house sold.” The stories go on and on. I have also heard this one repeated: “I was thriving financially and in so many ways when I was in class, but I stopped Tithing after it was over and I’m back in the same ’soup’ I was in before.”

So what can you expect when you begin to give the GIFT of Tithing?

• Fear usually shows up. I don’t have enough now. How can I possibly…?

• Memories of previous associations with the word “tithe” may surface.

• Trust will become the plank to walk when beginning this practice.

• Surprise may ensue when you notice the amount of money you have to use after giving 10% to God.

• Doubt may surface when the above is not the immediate experience or when unexpected expenses show up instead.

• You may be surprised at the wisdom and judgment you are using to manage the money you have been given.

• You will enjoy the ease with which you are able to meet your financial obligations.

• You will notice that your connection in God deepens and thus your spiritual life expands and your consciousness of wealth grows.

• You will find that you want to give more than 10% to a variety of places of spiritual nourishment.

• You’ll wonder how you ever managed to live without giving the GIFT of Tithing.
